GOVERNOR GBENGA DANIEL APPEALS TO OBASANJO

Governor Daniel who was taken to the residence of former president in Abeokuta by a classmate of Obasanjo and Olubara of Ibara, Abeokuta, Oba Jacob Omolade, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) and pools magnate, Chief Kessington Adebutu, Obasanjo admitted that he had apologized.

His faction of the DPP had tried to oust the Obasanjo faction in the battle to pick up the frames of the state governor and his party PDP candidate.The Obasanjo won, forcing the governor's supporters to go to  peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN.


But Daniel, after yesterday's meeting, which lasted about three hours, during which he begged. He passionately said: "Let me tell you, I'm a true Yoruba son and in Yorubaland no matter who is right or who's wrong, the younger one begsthe elderly person. So I begged Baba and I will continue to beg him"

He also said he had accepted General Idowu Olurin, who was chosen as the candidate by the faction of Obasanjo as the governorship candidate, and that those who went to the PPN would return.  "Well, we all give thanks to God. And I think what happened today is proof of God's work, and would like to take this opportunity to thank the elders and also to thank Baba for the opportunity of meeting.

I have no doubt in my mind that we can fix things. What we started doing today is a manifestation of better things to come. As you have always been aware that it many of our supporters were disappointed, and I think even if, we have to sit down and begin to find a lasting solution, which is what we have started today.

"I have no doubt in my mind that we will talk to ourselves." PDP is a strong and united party. And you know that there is never a time that I left. Those who left felt very aggrieved. And we have began the process of reconciliation.

Former President Obasanjo has confirmed that Daniel had begged him, saying "Well, you know one thing if you're a true Christian, your prayer will be: Our Father which art in heaven, and you'll end up with and forgive us our debts, and those indebted us, whether consciously or unconsciously.

"Of course, as I pray God to forgive my sins, I forgive those who sin against me, especially those who ask for forgiveness. So I ask God to deliver me from evil and deliver those who sin against me."

One of the facilitators of the peace meeting, Chief Afe Babalola said, "We are pleased to say that we've fixed the rift in the PDP and is well resolved today. And Daniel will be at the airport tomorrow (today) as the governor and members of the PDP are to receive the president. We are pleased that all problems have reached an amicable solution. "
