THE PERISCOPE: DEMOCRATIC MISNOMER

Time they say waits for no man. It is just like yesterday and the chorus, jingles and chants of ‘’CHANGE” was sung to the high heavens. Sai baba! Jonathan to Otuoke!
It was quite a heated up campaign and there we saw the true and actual meaning of the cliché that Nigeria is of many divides. The North went their way and the South theirs with only the South-west of the Southern protectorate to decide who eventually emerges as the President.
It was not a shock to me to have seen the South-west go the side of the North because a well respected personality from the Northern extraction, General Mohammadu Buhari had emerged from the alignment of Northern parties like CPC, ANPP with the APC of the South-western region and the break-away New PDP.
The elections are gone and the winner has long been declared and no head rolled nor were there spilling of blood as predicted. Violence was minimal. All thanks to the Ex-president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
This is April, the eleventh month of this new administration but in actual sense, can it be called new? This question is occasioned by the fact that the life span of any administration is four years except in the case of a sack or re-election.
Several failed promises and denials are now staring us right in our faces. Remember the N5000 promised to unemployed youths and feeding of school pupils amongst many others. All these were lofty promises to seize power.

I told my friends, some days back that no true government would intentionally come to power to impoverish its citizens but that hardship can result from failed policies and laxities on different angles.
True as people might point out the mismanagement of previous administrations especially the most recent but I strongly believe that that was why the masses chanted “CHANGE” and the wind swept through the land to bring down the largest party in Africa, the PDP and unseat a sitting President.
Here is the misnomer that causes me to rage; it is with the administration not taking responsibility for what they do and what happens but rather they quickly resort to blaming previous government(s). If previous governments had dwelt on blame games on the Military regimes of the past, I wonder if Nigeria would even have survived till now. I beg to ask if we didn’t know something was wrong before we voted. Gosh! We voted for correction, sanitization and better management. If there were to be a way of seeing into the future and questions were asked the APC party and its Presidential aspirant back then about what to do to avert forthcoming untold hardship on Nigerians, I believe they would come up with quick-fix answers all just to win the election. So they should stop being wailing wailers and get fully to work.
In view of this, I utterly believe that the Party was just all after seizing power but not prepared for governance. What they seem to be doing is “learning on the job” but it is delicate to do so with a country as ours.
They say “We must fight corruption and root it out from our land”. Boys well done but is that just what we need to do? Every day, it was now a culture to come out on paper stands and see in bold letters, painted in the most captivating ways the names of those being paraded and tried for graft and the most topping one was Sambo Dasuki, the former NSA. I am not an Advocate for folks who may have amassed the wealth of the masses. I never had links with them nor had a share of their loots and I pray they pay for this evil if found guilty but my pain remained in the diversion of attention of the masses tactically played in connivance with the Media. People were and are still more tried on pages of newspapers than the supposed courts.
Sooner or later the fuel scarcity began to gradually set in and now what seemed like a little storm in a tea cup has snow-balled into an economic flood. Fuel scarcity was the song of the whole of the first quarter now we are in the second quarter. Electricity distribution jamboree that had greeted the entrance of the new government has plummeted, the naira began to nose-dive as against the dollar, water distribution pipes and taps for areas with government provision have gone dry.
Baba na wetin dey happen? Blame PDP the President and his party chorused and are still chorusing. Media corruption stunts stopped working because as they say, “Na person wey chop dey fit read”.
I am critical about what I am writing not that I hate any party, I do not have business with party affiliations so long the system works.
What Nigerians have faced in the last nine months is enough to cause an uprising if it were to be in other climes. An average Nigerian has gotten poorer than he was nine months ago. True! If an average Nigerian that cannot change a job for a better one or that has been laid off due to the harsh economic situation or that cannot source well for his business due to hyper-inflation compares what he spends to what he spent nine months ago with a fixed or declining income, what we come up with is increase in poverty. Simple economics!
Nigerians are not patient, Nigerians should give this government a chance to work, it is easier to destroy than to build-These are the common words you’d hear from Buhari Apologists.
My friend, you must not be in the opposition to criticize and criticism is not wishing a government bad.

Before I forget why is President Buhari busy globetrotting? No wonder the budget he presented to the National House of Assembly was padded with all sorts of mischievous figures, unwanted and un-matching Ministry allocations that even serving Ministers were miffed with what they saw.

My friend would ask me a question; Chris leave Nigeria alone, some Nigerians are living in splendor in the midst of all these hardship and I would answer that we don’t have to be poor to speak for the downtrodden. Collective voices could actually help us actualize the change we wanted.

Now is the twist, every true critic must advise on what he thinks can work.

I.                    Mr President, sit more at home even as you continue with PMS Price modulation, sustained subsidy removal and a possible privatization of the oil sector with government just monitoring it. I know you and the then opposition matched against this when former President Jonathan proposed the idea of Privatization but do not worry; we will not nickname you a hypocrite by doing it. Do not be too blind and sentimental to throw away some of the policies of previous government like the oil provision ratio between NPMC a subsidiary of NNPC and the IPMAN that used to be 40:60 that you have now reverted to.
Let’s keep to that ratio and gradually change it with increase in domestic refining till we attain self-sufficiency.
II.                  Stop spending huge sums in search of oil in Chad basin. That investment does not seem right.
III.                The enormous profile of three compressed Ministries given to Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) should be readdressed. First among many reasons is that though he is a born worker, the portfolio is too big and he is not an expert in any of these comprised critical Ministries.
IV.                We have vast arable lands of 80million hectares accounting for 23% of total sum in West Africa. The Minister of Agriculture should double his effort to increase produce both for domestic and export purposes to help boost back the GDP.
V.                  Let this low pricing of crude oil per barrel be a blessing to the Ministry of Solid Minerals. That Ministry should be given quarterly production benchmarks to help revert back the relapse on the Naira through increased exports.
VI.                CBN to help formulate better financial policies
VII.              Education sector should be fine tuned with a total overhaul to meet our demands. Graduates to be taught to proffer solutions to meet our demands unlike what is obtainable now though there are skills acquisition centres but that to me seems to be medicine for just survival. We need adequate academic fortification to revamp every ailing sector of our economy.

These and many advices I have to share in future writings but at the mean time, I do hope and pray we get it right as a nation.
I am Obaze Chris, a concerned socio and political commentator.

"For me, to have fortune means someone who has what he needs at any point in time. I don't see myself as having $150 million stacked up somewhere. Whatever way they found their figures, I am only able to say I am blessed by the Lord."

Kim K crowned world's best butt as 45% of women around the world now want 'The Kim'

Kim Kardashian's butt is what most women into body enhancement are now seeking. According to a research released over the weekend, Kim K has been World's Best butt and over 45% percent of women seeking to enlarge their butt in the last one year want what they now refer to as 'The Kim'.

Longevita plastic surgeon Prof. Dr. Fuat Yuksel, who commissioned the research, said:
'Kim has been popular among women seeking bottom augmentation or "Brazilian butt lifts" as they are more commonly known, for a few years, but in the last 12 months we’ve had a massive rise in the numbers asking for a Kim Kardashian bum. The procedure is performed through liposuctioned fatty tissue being injected into the buttocks. Kim has risen from just outside the top ten to the number one position in record time and is a firm favourite among women in the UK and elsewhere around the world."
"The Brazilian lift is now one of the most highly sought-after procedures we do - we’ve seen a 200 per cent increase in the number of UK enquiries for this procedure in the last 12 months alone. British women love beauties like Nicki Minaj and Kim Kardashian who have bigger bums and are not afraid to flaunt them.' Dr Yuksel said.
Hmm!

LINDA IKEJI IS BACK ON BLOGGER. SEE WHAT HAPPENED

Between Linda Ikeji and Mr Aye Dee. The real shocking story

This story was culled from Linda herself.
What you are about to read is quite long…and chilling! I wasn’t going to share this info in public but after I showed it to some family members and a few friends who came to the house this morning, everyone agreed that I need to share this, that you all need to read this. You see, what happened with my blog wasn’t about beef. It wasn’t because I showed off my new SUV. It wasn’t about plagiarism, or copyright infringement. It was something deeper, very personal and maybe even more dangerous. Some would call it obsession.

To understand this I am going to start from the beginning but before that I want to talk about plagiarism. My understanding of plagiarism is when you take someone’s work and republish it verbatim as your own work. I don’t do that. But if I have ever done that in the past then I apologize. It was an oversight. I do get a lot of original content, way more than any other blogger in this country. Some of the biggest news stories in this country in recent times was broken by LIB. From Goldie’s death (God rest her soul) Aluu4, ABSU rape, P-Square saga, Solomon Akiyesi and plenty more. And when I take news from other sources, I always credit them. When I don’t give credit is when the news is everywhere so I write it in my own words and make it mine. I don’t believe that is a crime. I admit that I have used photos without giving credit. I apologize. That will never happen again. You learn every day. And I have learnt from this.

Now about Mr Aye Dee. Let me start from the very beginning so you guys understand what really happened. Like I said earlier, this was not about copyright or plagiarism. It was personal. Very personal. In 2009 or 2010…(not sure) a guy named Alex who used to run 1976AD blog contacted me. He said he was impressed with my work and wanted to encourage me to never relent. Alex Info 1976AD (how I knew him back then) and I became very good friends online. In fact he was my confidant. Every time I had questions or challenges, I would reach out to him.

By 2011, Alex 1976AD and I became quite close…online. We even exchanged numbers and spoke a few times. He always reminded me how proud of me he was. He told me I would one day become a phenomenon. I wasn’t number one at the time but he told me that I would one day be the biggest news site in Nigeria…that he believed in me that much. He was my friend, my supporter; he sent me news to post on my blog. He wanted me to succeed. He told me things to do to get more readers. He knew a lot about the internet and how it works so I always went to him for advice. He was my anchor.

In 2011, Alex 1976AD made me his blog’s Person of the Year 2011. I shared that post excitedly on my blog. He said I was the most deserving Nigerian for the award that year…and he wrote the most beautiful article about me. He was so proud of me…and never hesitated to tell me. I was grateful. I was happy to have him as a friend...even though we'd never met.

Then we stopped talking. I sincerely can’t remember when exactly. I know that Alex 1976AD tried to reach out to me mid last year…but I can’t remember if I responded. If I didn’t, it was an oversight. I’m really bad at replying mails because I get so many and I’m always busy blogging…but anyway.

Google Explains Why LindaIkeji’s Blog Was Shut Down, Not A Case Of Witch Hunting

Yesterday, the Nigerian blogosphere went agog as tech giant, Google shut down the blog of celebrated blogger, Linda Ikeji, following widespread allegations of copyright infringement and plagiarism levelled against her.
It all began a few days back when one Mr. Aye Dee, Editor-in-Chief of United States-based 15Past8 media group, reported Linda Ikeji to Google, accusing her of copyright infringement.
“Google just notified us that they are removing our copyrighted content from Linda Ikeji’s website. All the stories and images Linda Ikeji took from me without permission in the last few days have been removed from her site by Google. Someone has to say something. It costs money to get good work done. I spend time getting information from my sources, as well as analysing and verifying the information. All that costs money. I don’t mind donating my time for Nigeria’s sake, but for someone to take my labour and use it for personal profit, no way!”  Aye Dee had tweeted.

Tragic News!Baba Suwe’s Drug Case Lawyer Bamidele Aturu Slumps And Dies In Lagos

The death of prominent Human Rights activist, Bamidele Aturu has been announced. Bamidele came to prominence as a fighter against power abuses when, as a corp member in 1988, he refused to shake the hand of a military administrator of Niger State, Col. Lawan Gwadabe during his NYSC passing out parade. Bamidele had declared then that the military had caused great harm to the democratic aspirations of Nigerians.

A very close pal to the deceased, Dr Joe Odumakin said Aturu was unconscious on the way to the hospital and didn’t make it there alive. He further said that the cause of his death is yet to be determined.
Debo Adeniran of CACOL who expressed sadness over the untimely death of Aturu said the Human Right lawyer slumped.
“I was told he collapsed, but the news did not come to me early. By the time I heard it, I called his wife, the background noise coming from the other end seemed sounded like a church setting. It was another person, a lady, who picked the phone and was just shouting: ‘it is well’ and that Aturu’s wife cannot speak to me.
“He must have overworked himself or he is a victim of the doctors’ strike, but we will know in due course,” Debo Adeniran said.
Before his death, he was the founder of Bamidele Aturu & Co.
His corpse has been deposited in LUTH Mortuary for autopsy.
He was 49 years old. May his soul rest in peace

Paternity Suit Drama! A Second Love Child For Beyonce’s Dad And Second Half Sibling For Her – Photos

Papa knowles was sure going through some ‘stuff’ to have impregnated two women back in 2010. Now only 1 woman Alexsandra Wright spoke up at that time. But now it seems Beyonce could have another sibling she knew nothing about as her father Matthew Knowles has been hit with another paternity suit by the other woman he impregnated,  TaQoya Branscomb.

According to Buzzfeed,  the lingerie model turned estate agent alleges he fathered a female child born in 2010 in Harris County, Texas, and is demanding he takes DNA test.

She is also going after the multimillionaire for child support and money for her attorney’s fees.
Matthew certainly has previous form, after he was forced to admit in 2010 he was the father of actress Alexsandra Wright’s son, a development which allegedly led to his divorce from wife Tina after 31 years of marriage.
Earlier this year he succeeded in getting his child support payment for his son slashed due to his dwindling income, despite earning millions as his daughter’s manager.
The legal maneuver came as it emerged he had skipped yet another month of payments to Alexsandra Wright, the mother of his four-year-old son Nixon.
