UniPort wins University Games
As this year's edition of the Nigeria University Games came to a close on Saturday at the University of Benin, the University of Port Harcourt (UniPort) confirmed its supremacy in the Games by retaining the title it won in the last edition hosted by the University of Nigeria (UNN). The university has now won games four times in a row. It hosted and won the 2004 edition before going on to win the 2006 edition (hosted by the University of Maiduguri).

Nigerian born singer, Sade, finally agreed to work with Jay Z
Jay-Z’s wish has finally been granted. Sade has called upon the Roc Nation superstar for a remix to one of her songs.
The British songstress, who has avoided collaborating with rappers in the past, gets some help from Jay on the remix to “The Moon and the Sky,” a track included on last year’s platinum-selling Soldier of Love. The remix, along with two other never-before-heard recordings, will appear on Sade’s double-disc set The Ultimate Collection. The 28-track offering also features classic Sade songs and will arrive May 3.
A nervous Sade previously revealed that she turned down Jay-Z and others’ requests for a collaboration. “I’m too scared,” she told the Los Angeles Times. “They’ll find me out. It’s like The Wizard of Oz. They’ll find out there’s nothing there. As for collaborations, I’m collaborating with the band and do what we do. I see myself as a member of this band who does these songs that we write.”
In addition, the band has announced new dates for their North American summer tour, kicking off June 16 in Baltimore, Maryland, with supporting act John Legend.

The 16th edition of the Annual THISDAYAwards depicted sheer brilliance that has surpassed any other award in Nigeria.
The Award was set to Recognise The Achievements of Notable bodies in Nigeria for their excellence and good governance for this year.
The event, which started at exactly 9 pm, saw the arrival of guests, artistes and dignitaries like award winning Tuface, Ifeoma Williams, former Miss Nigeria, Helen Prest Ajayi, Jim Ovia, chairman of Zenith bank, Gov. Uduaghan of Delta state, Nkiru Anumudu a socialite on the ravishing red carpet of Eko Hotel and Suites, the event venue.
Prior to that there was a VVIP reception with the Special Guests of Honor President Bill Clinton and Governor Arnold Schwazenegger at Eko Hotel and Suites Penthouse.
The Publisher of THISDAY Newspapers as well as the host of the event, Mr. Nduka Obaigbena gave the opening remarks and welcomed the guests present. He also recognised the presence of other important personalities such as Mr. Atedo Peterside, Yemisi Ransome-Kuti etc.
President Bill Clinton took the stage and gave a remarkable speech that earned him a standing ovation. In his words, “Nigeria needs Good Governance” while Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “Don’t Always ask what can our country do for us, ask what can we do for our country”.
Awards presentations took place right after that and were presented by former beauty queen Helen Prest Ajayi and Mr. Jim Ovia, chairman of Zenith bank.
Koko Mansion finalist Chidinma is dead
Chidinma Mbalaso from the reality television show, Koko Mansion, is dead. According to multiple sources, the 22 year old was involved in a car crash on the Kaduna-Abuja road yesterday March, 24 2011 and died early this morning at St Gerald’s hospital in Kaduna.
Ayo Rotimi, who worked as music supervisor during the Koko Mansion show said “[I] am still shocked myself. I heard the news yesterday and also that she was in a coma and I have been seeing tweets on the issue. I’m really am unhappy about it. We are still dealing with CD John’s death and now this. What’s happening to our youth?”. Meanwhile Koko Mansion housemate, Rita Isoken appeared to be too upset to remark. “Please not today,” Isoken said over the phone.
Before her death, Mbalaso was said to have gone into a coma and was in need of a blood donor. She was one of the four finalists on the Mo’Hits sponsored TV show Koko Mansion in 2009.
Uyo Mayhem: Police arrest ACN Governorship Candidate Udoedehe...to be arraigned for murder
The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) gubernatorial candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Senator John James Akpan Udoedehe has been arrested.
Police boss Hafiz Ringim made this disclosure earlier today, at a meeting with Senior Police Officers from the rank of Commissioners and above in Abuja on preparations towards next month's general elections .
According to Ringim, ACN candidate would soon be arraigned for alleged murder.
He said about 40 other persons were also arrested in connection with the mayhem that engulfed the capital Uyo two days. More than 10 persons loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the AC were killed , with cars and properties worth millions were torched.
Pointblanknews.com learnt that Udoedeghe is alleged to be one of the masterminds of the clash.
The IGP further disclosed that the Police is also investigating some candidates from Ogun State for alleged forgery.
He charged all the CPs to obey the directives of the federal government on the use of policemem attached to VIPs on election day.
"Police officers attached to government functionaries, state chief executives, ministers and members of the National Assembly as security details must maintain the briefs of their postings.
"Escort duties on election days must be scaled down and restricted accordingly.
"For the aviodance of doubt, with the exception of Mr President/Vice President, Governors and their deputies, Senate President/Deputy senate President, Speaker and Deputy, whose ADCs will be duly directed on their expected conduct during elections.
"Ministers and other VIPs will be accompanied by one policeman each to cast their votes after which they will return to their homes.
President suspends Campaign Director for insulting Buhari
The director of research and strategy of the Goodluck/Sambo campaign organisation, Mike Omeri has been suspended for ignoring the president's directive not to engage opposition parties in smear campaigns.
The suspension was ordered by President Goodluck Jonathan The letter, dated March 22, 2011, which conveyed Mr. Omeri's suspension yesterday, was signed by the director general of the Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dalhatu Tafida, who said he (Omeri) was making pronouncements without clearance from his superiors.

Pop/Highlife artist Flavour N’Abania, real name Chinedu Okoli, has signed for an American based record imprint, Badbeats Records. According to a press release from the singer’s management, Badbeats Records have just concluded the video shoot for two of Flavour’s news tracks, ‘My Woman Is Gone’, shot in America, and ‘Nwa Baby’, shot in South-Africa. Issues relating to nudity in movies have over the years stoked controversies as to its propriety or otherwise and whether or not it is real.
Do you remember “Heart of Men””4 Play “Hot Fork” and obsession? Well, I sat behind my laptop to watch a new movie featuring Yvonne Nelson, Jim Iyke, Nicoletta Samoans who is popularly known as Niki, going naked for more than 2 minutes showing all she has got in the name of movie making.
Initially, I thought it was one of what film makers term as camera tricks and so I requested the unedited version of the movie from the producer so I could have a sample viewing for better deduction and analysis but the producer declined showing it to me, Luckily, I met a good Samaritan who gave me the opportunity to see the full version of the actress going fully naked without any cover.
According to an eye witness who was on the set, it was stated in the script for the movie in question that , that scene be taken, with an actress going naked and Niki Insisted that she would do it.
Many who have had the opportunity to watch the video say they have seen some upcoming movies whose nude scenes would Dwarf what Niki has done in the new movie.
The video will be Uploaded on Nigeriafilms.com and other top site soon for viewers to have a look at the direction that the movie industry is veering into.
Many of her fans ware asking how much she was paid to show her private parts to the whole world without any feeling of remorse of whatsoever, ownership of the movie is still not known.

You do not look at all like someone who just had a Baby. Did you do some exercise to lose the baby fat?
I am already slim. I do exercise especially in the first three months after childbirth to stay in shape. I do all kinds of exercise from cycling to normal stretching. I used to exercise twice a day then but now I do it once.

MTN NIGERIA BATTLES BUSINESSMAN OVER $2 MILLION DOLLARS DEAL
Dominic Essien the Ceo of SEED Media Limited is standing trial at a Lagos High Court based on allegations that he swindled top telecommunications copany, MTN Nigeria of amount close to three hundred Million Naira (About $2 million USD)
According to a case brought against the former banker by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Essien allegedly defrauded MTN Nigeria to the tune of N252 million Naira. He was said to have obtained the sum from the telecom company under the pretext that the money represent the cost of purchase and stock of loyality incentives/gifts from TLC marketing worldwide for MTN Nigeria costomers. Essien allegedly converted the money instead to personal use and gain.
Gistmaster.com gathered that Essien’s total deal with MTN was N300 Million but he was paid N252 Million as mobilization fee.
Essien who was brought before Justice O.A Akinlade this morning (Monday 21 February 2011) pleaded not guilty to the charges made by the anti-graft agency gainst him.Dominic Essien, who is reportedly the rep of yahoo! in Nigeria was reminded in prison custody while the case has been adjourned till 24 March when the hearing for bail application would come up.

Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke has confirmed that he is getting married to his Jamaican model fiancé, Keturah Hamilton after months of speculations. Jim made this revelation in an interview he granted a Kenyan tabloid saying Keturah is the true embodiment of what he has been looking for in a woman.

‘Why Goodluck Jonathan Was Absent at The NN24′s Presidential Debate’
While GEJ turned down invitation, renowned aspirants like Dele Momodu, Chris Okotie and Pat Utomi or any other of the 19 aspirants were not invited by the TV Network. Nigerian Film wins awards at African version of the Oscars – Fespaco 2011
The latest comes from FESPACO (2011), the African version of the Oscars which just ended in Ouagadougou, the Burkinabe Capital.
“Champions of our Time”, a film directed by Mak Kusare, won the Ecowas Prize for the Best Film in West Africa. The film also won the Special Jury Prize for Best Television/Video Award at the five day film fiesta.
Competing in the same category of Best Tv/Video Award were (24) twenty four entries from Cameroun, Madagascar, Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, Libya, Algeria, Ethiopia, Senegal, Namibia, Burundi and Nigeria (two entries- “Champions of our Time” and Kunle Afolayan’s “Figurine”). With the two awards, Kusare, an alumni of the National Film Institute, Jos, has added another feather to his cap.
